Fast growing West Cumbrian scaffolding firm Lakeland Scaffolding, of Workington, have decided to support the motorsport ambitions of up and coming young rally driver, Richard Barnard, 23, from Cockermouth.

Richard is contesting the Association of North West Car Clubs Stage Rally Championship and is currently lying well inside the top 10 overall category and leading the Young (Under 25) Drivers class. He competes in his Subaru Impreza which is prepared in Yorkshire by RDR Motorsport and is co-driven by his father, Andy Barnard. Both of the crew are members of the West Cumbria Motorsport Club which is in itself a member of the North West Association.

The Cockermouth team, that run under the RABrallyesport banner, are aiming to help Richard win the Young Drivers award and the Newcomers award at the end of the season helping him climb a further step up the ladder in rallying leading to an assault on a National championship on 2012.

Owner of Lakeland Scaffolding, Wayne Dunn, said ' We are a progressive and ambitious firm and we are pleased to provide some backing to an ambitious young driver like Richard. We are going to support him on the Legend Fires SMC Stages Rally to be held on April 10th at Weeton near Preston and then review what we might do in the future after that. We are sure with his determination he will be successful and at Lakeland Scaffolding we like to be associated with success.'

Opie Oils and the Trout Hotel, Cockermouth are also continuing their support of Richard.
